The Adventures of Puff the Magic Penguin Ch. 5

Puff rushed down to the beach. No Lookays! Where on earth was his family? Had the bird been right? But Puff could see tasty rainbow fish leaping in and out of the water. He dived into a wave and emerged with one in his mouth. Yum yum! He'd never eat fruit again!
Just when Puff was deciding that this had to be the absolute best day of his life, he heard a distant BOOM, BOOM, BOOM that was getting louder all the time. "Not again!" he squeaked, hiding behind a washed-up pile of seaweed. Ooh, seaweed was good too! Almost as good as fish! Puff was going to eat it, but at the last moment his tiny brain realized that he shouldn't eat his cover.
The Hecogrin came into sight, swinging its huge legs and making its way toward Puff. The little Lookay made a dash for some rocks just as the Hecogrin's huge foot smashed the seaweed where he had just been sitting. The Hecogrin bent down to take a drink from the sea, but he didn't go out for a swim. Why didn't he? True, the water was really deep, even right up against the bank, but surely this thing new how to swim?
Oh, no! The Hecogrin had spotted Puff! There was no where for him to escape to except the sea, and certainly this creature would overtake him! "Screwed," he whispered to himself as he waddled toward the water.
Puff dived in and swam as fast as he could. Yummy, a rainbow fish! Ooh, some seaweed! Don't stop! he scolded himself. The Hecogrin was wading into the water after him, the waves lapping at its head, but it still didn't swim. Puff swam about a hundred more feet and looked back at the Hecogrin. Its legs were waving wildly, and its mouth gasped for air. Its head went under and didn't resurface.
The Hecogrin couldn't swim? How strange. Normally Puff would have thought that that was funny, but he wasn't in the mood to laugh. It's not easy to laugh right after you've almost been eaten by something that has a toe bigger than you.


So you're probably wondering, how did Puff get back home? Did he ever find his family? Did he evolve?
I know that you're curious, but my fingers are getting cramped from typing so much and I don't feel like explaining every little deatail. I'm going to skip to one last scene, two million and four years after the Hecogrin's difeat. You will have to fill in the holes yourself.

"Starship Koolish Kat requesting permission for orbit," Puff said. He guided his starship down to his home planet. His second-in-command, named Twirly (the Lookays were a very funny group of animals) came up beside him. "What's that memorial for?" he asked, pointing to a huge stone marking place that said, "In honor of the bravery of Puff the Magic Penguin" on it.
"That's for the first Puff," Puff answered. "Two million and four years ago, he defeated a huge animal. That was his nest."
"Do you know anything else?" Twirly asked.
Puff shook his head. "The deatails are lost in time."
