The Adventures of Puff the Magic Penguin Ch. 2

What was there to eat in his place? Puff couldn't see the sea, so of course there was no tasty rainbow fish, and then there was grass, but he knew from his experiences that grass didn't taste very good. He guessed that the only thing to eat was those cone-shaped objects hanging from the plants. Puff walked over and took a huge bite. To his surprise it tasted very good, and soon his belly was bloated with fruit.
Now for the Hecogrin business. Was the Hecogrin a species or an animal? Puff wattled over to the lizard-like animal and asked, "What is the Hecogrin and what did he do to all the Lookay?" The lizard thought a bit before he replied, "The Hecogrin is a huge animal, bigger then that hillside over there, that likes to eat smaller animals. About a year ago he came through here and ate all the Lookays... well, not all of them, some of them ran away. He still lives here, so if I were a little Lookay like you I'd waddle back to where I came from."
Puff wished that he could waddle away from here, go back to his home and his sea. But he didn't know which direction to go. "Is there an ocean around these parts?" he asked the lizard. The lizard nodded and pointed with his tail to a hill. "Walk over that hill, and you'll see a bunch of other hills. Keep walking, and you'll reach the ocean. It'll probably take about two days for a little creature like you, but I wouldn't try it. That's where the Hecogrin lives." Puff was getting sick of hearing about the Hecogrin. The lizard was probably just exagerating when he said that it was as big a the hillside. But if he got to the sea, he could meet his family and disscuss moving to a place where animals hadn't lost their minds.
Puff waddled up the hill. When he was about halfway to the top he heard the lizard yell, "Hey! Did you listen to what I just said? The Hecogrin will eat you if you go toward the sea!" Puff continued walking. He reached the top of the hill, threw himself on his belly, and slid down... right onto a spice gyser.
The gyser lifted him into the air. Puff vainly flapped his flightless wings, trying desperatly to navigate, as he'd seen other birds do. It was no use. The gyser flung Puff through the air. He would have died if he hadn't landed in a bush. Puff struggled out of the branches and leaves and looked around for the ocean. But all he saw was hills, with animals running around on them. Puff began to waddle past some ferocious-looking animals when suddenly they turned toward him. "FOOD!" one said, and they all started running for him.
